7-ON-7 CUERO AND YOAKUM QUARTERBACKS

Two new starting quarterbacks hope to help themselves in 7-on-7 this summer.

7 on 7 high school football started this week at Memorial Stadium and in Yoakum. Our Ross Kinnaird looks at two area quarterbacks who are looking to gain experience before they step into big roles.

The Cuero Gobblers advanced to the State semifinals last season behind the big arm of Tyler Arndt... But Arndt has moved on and it will more than likely be time next year for Mason Blaschke to take over the reigns as Gobbler QB.
"I know people will be expecting a lot and some doubt me but that's OK because I may not have as good an arm as Tyler, but I can do some things", said Blaschke.
Blaschke looked sharp Tuesday in 7-on-7 games against Goliad and Victoria West. The signal-caller is counting on 7-on-7 extra this year because of his new position.
"A lot because I haven't had many reps this past year playing receiver so as many passes I can get will help me. "
Like Blaschke, Yoakum's Jeffrey Harrison will likely have the task of replacing a productive signal-caller this coming year. Harrison is projected to step in for William Markert, who led the Bulldogs to the playoffs last season.
"Just getting everybody competitive and getting them working in the weight room and working hard, stayin' healthy", said Harrison.
Both Harrison and Blaschke are keyed in to what they need to improve.
"Completing my passes and finding open receivers."
"Just getting our timing down and perfecting our routes... Getting the routes right and everything."
And 7-on-7 football is giving both players a chance to speed up their learning curve before fall hits...
and the games count for real.... Ross kKnnaird, Your Hometown Sports.
7-on-7 continues at Memorial on Tuesday nights and at Yoakum Thursday nights.
