Jaguar Hall Slighty Behind Schedule
Local

Workers are scrambling to complete construction for UHV's Jaguar Hall. Remodeling is behind schedule, but expected to be almost done for freshman to move in on Aug. 19.
With all the recent rainfall, weather has been the biggest setback for builders. Additional workers will help at the hall once construction ends for the new V.I.S.D. schools.

Mold has also been a problem. Workers must remove excess mold from each room until the spore count equals the amount outside.

The remodeled dorm will hold around 250 students once completed. The university bought the former Inn Palace Hotel last December. Purchase price and renovations will cost the school around $9.5 million. Sounds expensive, but Kevin Meyers, facilities director, said they are getting a great deal compared to other universities in Texas building similar sized dorms.

Myers hopes to have at least 100 or more rooms ready for students at move-in.

Classes start Aug. 23.
